Another fabulous evening art club where I learned how to make the most beautiful window decals. I hope that this might be repeated with a Christmas theme in the coming weeks. 

The crafting was gentle and cathartic and the social aspect of the workshop added to the all round experience.  Area and biscuits were welcome indulgences

My husband booked the first workshop (Make A Bag) of this 4 week course as a present. Having only done limited sewing whilst at school, I found the class a great introduction into learning how to use the sewing machine and using basic stitches.  We were also given paper templates and scrap fabric in order to get used to using the machine and to practice sewing with different stitches and experience how to handle the fabric when sewing in straight lines, around curves and changing directions. By the end of the class, I came away with a beautiful shopping bag that was going to come in handy and that I felt very proud of.  

Rachel was very friendly, approachable and knowledgeable. All materials were provided and the studio was well equipped with everything you would need (including tea and biscuits!). We had a group of five people which was nice as it was a friendly environment that everyone felt they could ask questions as we went along or general tips and advice on sewing. The studio is a great space which also showcases items that have been made in other classes.  There’s so many other art/craft classes that I now want to try! 

I found the first workshop and my experience very inspiring and this led me to book the other 3 workshops on this course: Making a zipped Make up bag, Make A Cushion Cover with Piping, and Make Pyjama Bottoms. I have thoroughly enjoyed all these workshops (not to mention using my creations!) and my sewing confidence has increased during the course. I would recommend this to anyone interested in sewing or looking to learn some new skills.

Come along and make a pair of comfy PJ bottoms for yourself or for a loved one! 
This workshop is perfect for beginner's and those wanting an  introduction to  using commercial patterns, you will learn how to construct, finish seams professionally and hem. Lots of tips along the way in a fun and relaxed class.
You will need to buy and bring along fabric of your choice. 
Either 2.4m of 115cm wide, Or 2m of  140cm wide soft breathable fabric (cotton or brushed cotton)
If you want to make a larger size (16+) it is better to get a plain fabric or non-directional print design.
 All other eqipment and materials are included, with tea/coffee and a biscuit or two!

The PJ ( bottoms only) workshop review. Very nice studio with lots of light. Good Janome machine with a variety of stitches. Pleasant teacher. Workshop was extremely basic. I felt that it should have been advertised as a very basic beginners class. For three hours I had expected a more detailed pattern with at least a separate waistband. I finished one hour and fifteen minutes prior to the end of the class. I would have finished earlier if an overlocker had been made available. Used a stich (similar to an overlocker) which gave a good finish on the sewing machine but this was not as quick to use. However I was the only attendee and have been sewing for 18 months. A good class if you have none or little experience of sewing.  A cloth copy of the two piece pattern used to make the Pajama bottoms  was given to me as I asked but I was told that normally this doesn’t happen.
